In the dark future of the 41st millennium, where only war reigns, in distant galaxies teeming with warrior monks, in the depths of the Arrakis desert where spice must flow, or simply to boldly venture where no one has gone before... In all the most well-known science fiction settings, we find varying levels of technological development, advanced space travel, and weapons of mass destruction...
But also in all of them, the sword occupies a prominent, visible, and defining place that is difficult to ignore, which is paradoxical, especially given that no one in the present thinks about them or they occupy an integral part of our current culture.
Exploring the reasons why, from the perspective of the internal logic of these works, their narrative background, and their relationship to the historical events that have brought us to the present, is the question that the members of the Francisco de Ettenhard Historical Fencing Association will attempt to answer. For one hour, we will share everything we know about swords and geekdom, to give you a different perspective on the best science fiction creations and our companions, the swords.
This talk will be given in Spanish.
