Code of Conduct

CODE OF CONDUCT

Introduction

Freak Wars is an event that hosts multiple tournaments, contests, demos, casual games and countless other situations in which participants compete against each other. This competition must always take place in a healthy way and aligned with the main goal of the event: having fun together as a community.

Objective

With these conditions we aim to ensure that all competitions are carried out fairly and smoothly.

This code applies to all competitive situations, although each activity may have its own considerations which will always take precedence.

Code of Conduct

These are the key points we consider essential for maintaining a positive environment during the event. If inappropriate behavior is detected, the participant may be disqualified or even expelled from the event.

  1. Sportsmanship: Sportsmanship must be maintained at all times with a proactive attitude towards resolving situations. If a dispute seems unsolvable, you can always consult the activity organizer.

  2. Cheating: Although many activities are highly competitive, winning through cheating is meaningless. Any cheating detected—whether during the activity, in army lists, or in any other element of the competition—will result in the participant’s disqualification.

  3. Fast play: To ensure that competitive activities run smoothly, participants must play efficiently. Constantly checking rules without prior understanding can drag out a game indefinitely, so it is recommended to thoroughly know your army list and its rules before the tournament.

  4. Game tools: Any necessary items such as dice or measuring tapes must comply with the game’s rules. At any time your opponent may request to use them during their game phase.

  5. Respectful behavior: In addition to sportsmanship, respect must always be maintained as stated in our Non-Discrimination Protocol. If you witness any such situation, please report it to the activity organizer or any member of the Freak Wars team, including volunteers.

  6. Caring for the play environment: Tables, terrain, gaming elements, and even the venue itself must be respected in order for the event to succeed. It is essential that everyone takes care of their surroundings and keeps the venue clean.

  7. Spectators, photos, and videos: It is common for spectators to take interest in competitive activities, wanting to film, take photos, or cover them as media. A positive attitude towards the audience is encouraged as long as they do not interfere with or hinder the match. Any such situations should be reported to the activity organizer or a member of the Freak Wars team. Taking photos, videos, and conducting interviews is allowed.

Authenticity of personal data and admission to the tournament

By accepting these conditions you declare that the information provided in your user account (full name) is truthful and corresponds to the person attending the tournament.

In addition to granting you access to the tournament, this data also validates your registration. Tournaments require participants to comply with basic standards of conduct. If a user’s data matches that of participants in other tournaments who did not comply with such standards, the organizers of this tournament may reject the registration. In such a case, the user will be notified of the cancellation and the registration fee will be refunded, but not other registrations or tickets purchased for Freak Wars and its activities.

Conditions for tournaments with a Golden Ticket (as specified in their rules)

A Golden Ticket is an additional prize awarded to the sole winner of the tournament, provided in agreement with Games Workshop. The Golden Ticket requires acceptance of the following conditions:

  1. The Golden Ticket grants the winner a place in the Warhammer World Championships, held from November 16th to 19th, 2023 in Atlanta (USA) at the Hyatt Regency. The slot will be for the same game system as the tournament. It is personal and non-transferable unless La Posada del Friki decides otherwise.
  2. The Golden Ticket is a prize arranged with Games Workshop, which is solely responsible for fulfilling its conditions for the winner. La Posada del Friki is not responsible for any changes or cancellations made by Games Workshop regarding their event. Nor is it responsible for airline changes or cancellations, or for any damages and/or injuries that may occur during the trip.
  3. La Posada del Friki will cover the round-trip flight expenses from Spain to Atlanta (USA) for the winner, up to a maximum amount specified in the tournament rules. These expenses will only apply to the flight ticket plus airline taxes, with airline, schedule, origin, and destination determined by La Posada del Friki.
  4. Any additional needs of the winner must be agreed upon with La Posada del Friki, and the related costs must be borne by the winner.
  5. The prize can only be redeemed in this form and can never be exchanged for cash.
  6. La Posada del Friki will cover hotel accommodation at the Hyatt only for the tournament dates. Accommodation may be shared. This arrangement will be communicated to the Golden Ticket winner.
  7. La Posada del Friki is not responsible for other expenses incurred, such as travel, baggage transfers, additional check-in fees, or accommodation outside the official tournament dates.
  8. The covered expenses apply exclusively to the winner and never to companions.
  9. If the winner cannot travel or does not reply within three working days after being notified, La Posada del Friki may award the Golden Ticket to the next player in the tournament ranking.
  10. Games Workshop may cancel its event without prior notice, in which case the prize will be void without any compensation from either Games Workshop or La Posada del Friki.
  11. La Posada del Friki is not responsible for assisting with travel requirements to the United States. It is also not responsible for any legal matters that may prevent travel.
  12. This tournament is independently organized by La Posada del Friki and is not affiliated with or administered by Games Workshop in any way. Any rights claimed to be infringed by the event concern only La Posada del Friki, with Games Workshop bearing no responsibility.
