Diego Esteban - Jury of Freak Painting Wars 2022
My name is Diego Esteban, better known in the hobby as "Dieguete" or "Dieguetestudio" and I am from Madrid.
My goal in miniature painting has always been to be able to connect with the viewer trying to convey something that was not in the figure before priming it, be it ideas, sensations, environments or moments.
For more than 10 years I have been working professionally in the modeling sector combining work for private collectors with collaborations in some of the most important companies in the miniature sector such as Mproyec, Scale75, Andrea miniaturas, Knight models,..., in 2015 I decided to venture creating my own project, HeraModels.
I have always said that I am a competition lover, not of awards as such, but of the uncertainty of whether your piece will have managed to connect with the public having so many pieces to look at. This passion has led me to participate in contest in half of Europe and the United States. And if I have to select one of the awards I have won, I would choose the Best Of Show of Monte San Savino, with a piece that perfectly represents my way of understanding the modeling, "Sweet deams". Since then I am immersed in several personal projects that I hope will finally see the light soon.
